Many of you have told us at farmers markets that you know it’s more affordable to buy our beef in bulk (half beef or whole beef) and some of you have acknowledged how fun it would be to try different recipes with a variety of steaks, roasts and ground beef, but you just don’t have the freezer space.
We have good news for you.
Crossroads Appliance (in Bellevue) and Albert Lee Appliance (in Seattle and Tukwila) have agreed to reduce their freezer prices for Thundering Hooves’ customers. Just call Craig at Crossroads ((425) 746-0550 ext. 116) or Aaron at Albert Lee ((206) 282-2110) and tell them you are a Thundering Hooves customer and are interested in their discount (Crossroads discount is approximately 10%, while Albert Lee’s will be 5%). They each have a wide array of freezer types.

An average size freezer holds 16 cubic feet. (Look for the cubic footage on the inside of your freezer door.) But you can find freezer sizes as small as 4 cubic feet for under $200).

It takes approximately 1 cubic foot for each 30-32 lbs. of meat.

A typical freezer-top refrigerator has 5-6 cubic feet of freezer space.

A typical half-beef (200 lbs.) requires 6-7 cubic feet of freezer space.

New freezers today are so energy efficient, that it costs less than $24 annually to run a typical 8 cubic foot freezer.

Compared to buying our meats in small quantities at our retail prices, buying a 200 lb. half beef at the bulk rate from Thundering Hooves will save you more than enough money to buy a new freezer to store it in!

Below you’ll find a couple models of both Upright, and Chest-style Freezers from Crossroads Appliance (with the already discounted price listed). We recommend Manual Defrost models as they don't heat up to 40 degrees every day to thaw the condensation. The Manual Defrost models maintain a constant temperature, thus keeping the food fresher, longer. Freezer burn happens quicker on Auto Defrost models.
